A fundraising started this month to gather funds for upgrades to Dunboyne playground and skatepark under the Town and Village Renewal scheme.
A GoFundMe page was started in the hopes residents win Dunboyne will donate the needed €22,000 for the playground upgrades
€100 thousand was granted for the upgrade last February after 900 people completed a survey in support of the changes.
This fundraiser has already been sponsored by several local businesses and organisations such as The ABC Club Playschool and Dunboyne Castle Hotel and Spa.
Upgrades will include additional play equipment, new fencing, new seating, and a replacement skatepark.
The proposals by the Dunboyne Playspace Forum will include a new teen zone, where teenagers can get together. This will include equipment such as hanging bars and other exercise facilities, as well as “sociable swings” that face each other.
The project is estimated to cost €200 thousand in total with €130,000 of that amount already raised for the project.
“To the businesses and enterprises of Dunboyne, we are asking you to make a donation to this fabulous cause!” Dunboyne Playspace Forum said in a Facebook post. “With your help, we can give Dunboyne the amazing playground and skatepark our children and teenagers deserve!”
There will be no door to door collections in the village and their Facebook page will be updated with new information and fundraising initiatives. The GoFundMe page can also be found on their Facebook page for anyone wishing to donate.
