St. Peter’s N.S. expansion in the works

The new 5 classrooms and 2 Special Education Needs rooms for St. Peter’s NS Dunboyne is now approved to proceed to the tender stage.

This project also includes general purpose hall, central activities space, multi-sensory room, new school office, ancillary accommodation, car parking spaces and landscaping works.

“Since its establishment in 2004, the school has been operating from temporary accommodation,” Meath East TD Thomas Byrne said.

The school has been waiting for an extension ever since and residents have expressed annoyance at the long wait time for improvements.

“They have been in very cramped accommodation on a very dangerous piece of road in the village,” Byrne continued.

The school will also cater for students in Dunshaughlin, Ratoath, Ashbourne, Maynooth and Kilcock. This area includes rural communities around the Meath east constituency such as Rathcore, Agher, Summerhill, Rathmolyon and Enfield.

The specification of the school’s construction requirements will now be advertised on the E-Tenders website (www.etenders.gov.ie).

St. Peter’s National School in Dunboyne is the first Church of Ireland denominational school established since the foundation of the State.
